2023 multiplication tables check attainment
The second year of the national Multiplication Table Check results has shown that 29% of eligible pupils scored full marks in 2023, up from 27% in 2022. Overall attainment rose with an average score of 20 out of 25 marks for pupils who took the check.
On Thursday 23 November, the Department for Education published a statistical release of the 2023 multiplication tables check (MTC) results at national and local authority level.
We would like to remind schools that there is no expected standard for the MTC. The purpose of the MTC is simply to help identify where pupils may need further support with fluency in their times tables.
