• How do you ensure that all pupils enjoy writing and make progress?
•  How do you hook children into writing?
• How do you develop compositional and transcriptional skills to ensure that pupils are meeting the standard at the end of key stage 1?
• How do you develop a whole key stage approach to developing and assessing   writing?
• How do you challenge the potential greater depth writers?

Why is this course relevant or important?

      The Teacher Assessment Framework identifies key aspects of writing that children should be demonstrating at the end of key stage 1. This day’s training will enable teachers to unpick the framework statements and to consider strategies which will enable all pupils to make progress in writing in order to meet the standard or achieve greater depth within the standard.

This course will advance your understanding of:

• The KS1 Teacher Assessment Framework for writing
• Strategies for teaching writing through shared, guided and independent work
•  Provide ideas for writing for different purposes
• Links with reading and how to encourage pupils to draw on their reading in their writing
• How to develop wider vocabulary and grammar skills
• How to ensure that basic punctuation is embedded

• A variety of ideas and strategies for all teachers to employ that will ensure a whole school approach to developing writing at KS1
