The findings show practitioners often lack the support, confidence and guidance required to identify indicators and to intervene effectively. When sexual abuse within families is suspected or reported, the review found numerous challenges around join-up between the criminal justice and safeguarding systems. There were also significant concerns about assessments of people presenting risk of sexual harm moving into a home with children.
