NEW - State speech on a new era of school

Information for all settings: Secretary of State speech on a new era of school standards and your chance to have your say

On Monday 3 February 2025, the Secretary of State for Education set out plans for a new era of school standards.

This includes an excellent teacher for every classroom, a high-quality curriculum for every school and a core offer of excellence for every parent so that every child can achieve and thrive.

The Secretary of State announced new plans to support stuck schools as part of proposals for a strengthened school accountability system. You can view the full speech and message to the sector.

We encourage you to share your views on our proposals for school accountability reform including school accountability principles, school profiles and a stronger approach to school improvement through intervention for state schools.

You can also complete the consultation on Ofsted's plans for report cards and inspection structures and share your views on proposals to improve education inspections and our new report cards for providers.

Both consultations close on Monday 28 April 2025.
