Education and children’s social care
- Schools budget increased by £2.3 billion - helping to fund new teachers
- £6.7 billion capital investment which includes £1.4 billion for school rebuilds (up £550 million), £2.1 billion condition funding, £90 million for children’s home renovations and £15 million to expand school-based nurseries
- £1 billion uplift to SEND
- £300 million for further education
- £40 million to deliver foundation and shorter apprenticeships
- Tripling investment in breakfast clubs to £30 million to continue rollout
- £250 million in 2025/26 to continue to test out new and innovative reforms, this is in addition to £40 million to pilot kinship carer allowances and £4m to attract new foster carers
- £69 million to continue the delivery of family hubs in 2025/26
- Reaffirmed policy on VAT on private school fees from January 2025 and announced plans to introduce new legislation to remove business rates exemptions for private schools next year.
