School and Academy Headteachers

Planning for the Mathemagical Competition for Year 4 pupils is now well advanced. This will take place on Wednesday 5^th June at Cookham Dean CE Primary School, Bigfrith Lane, Cookham Dean SL6 9PH (Tel. 01628 482734. It will be held from 4 pm till 5.30 pm.

There will be a team of 3 pupils from each participating school to solve a series of mathematical problems as quickly as possible, and race to get their answers to the judges. 

The format of the event will be that each question is given out separately on a slip of paper. The teams solve them as quickly as possible, trading their answer for the next question, and so on. Speed, accuracy and good teamwork are all important!

Each participating pupil will receive a Participating Certificate. The top three teams will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates, and £15, £10 and £5 book vouchers respectively. The Schools of the top 3 winning teams will also be awarded £50, £30 and  £20 vouchers for the purchase of books.

Further information / guidance will be provided to the participating schools before Half Term.

Due to the limited capacity of the School Hall, only 10 schools can be accommodated. Please let me know by Friday 17th May if you would like to join us. We would love you to. Schools will be taken on a “1^st come first serve” basis. 

Should there be more than 10 interested schools, the surplus will be put on a waiting list in case of later dropouts of any of the participating schools. Please advise Stephan Stephan at  HelalStephan@aol.com. Thank you.
