One minute guide to the SEND register
What?
A setting's special educational needs and disability (SEND) register is a list of children and young people who may need additional support in learning.
Some children and young people may only be on the register for a short time, while others may remain on it throughout their school years.
Who?
Settings will hold a SEND register for students within their setting.
The borough must also hold a SEND register for those children and young people with SEND in the borough. Find out more about the SEND register in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM).
Why?
A SEND register identifies children and young people who need special educational provision. It is a way of monitoring how many children and young people within the setting require special educational provision, and in which areas of SEND.
How?
The register is managed in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.
In RBWM, there is no set template that schools must use for their SEND register. It is the decision of each school how they would like to record their SEND register and what information to include.
Here is a proposed SEND register template.
