Prevent Newsletter

I would like to draw your attention to a one-off CPD event being delivered by Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) in December.

This is a unique opportunity for all DSLs and Safeguarding Leads to attend a session with the CTPSE Regional Prevent Coordinator and senior colleagues, providing valuable insight into how to make effective Prevent referrals. The session will also include an opportunity to participate in a Q&A with CTPSE representatives.

Registration details are included below, so please take the time to register as soon as possible, as places may be limited.

There are also several further updates included for your information. As always, please share these with any colleagues or professionals who may benefit from them.

NEW- Making Effective Prevent Referrals: Training Sessions for DSLs and Safeguarding Professionals

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) will be delivering three sessions on making effective Prevent referrals. These sessions provide an excellent opportunity for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and safeguarding professionals in all stages of education to hear directly from our Regional Prevent Coordinator and experienced colleagues who can offer practical guidance and support in this important area of safeguarding.

Even if you are an experienced DSL/safeguarding lead, I would strongly encourage you to attend. The sessions will include updated information, examples of best practice when making Prevent referrals, and a valuable opportunity to ask questions during a dedicated Q&A session.

Each session will cover the same content, so you only need to attend one. However, please feel free to share this invitation with your deputies or other colleagues in safeguarding roles who may be responsible for making referrals.

Session Dates and Times

  • Tuesday 8 December | 3:45pm - 4:45pm
  • Wednesday 9 December | 3:45pm - 4:45pm
  • Thursday 10 December | 3:45pm - 4:45pm

NEW: Special Interests and Prevent

This acadmeic year we have commissioned Connect Futures to deliver two webinars on special interest and Prevent. We successfully piloted the webinars last year in the South West and South East and now offer it more widely.

The sessions will explore the intersection of neurodivergence and Prevent concerns, with focus on special interest including tools to support.

Due to the format of the webinars we have limited places to 200 so early registration is crucial. If demand is high we will look options to add more dates.

Registration 19th November 1545 - 1700
Registration 2nd February 1545-1700

NEW: Home Office Training Package

As you may be aware the Home Office are reviewing their Prevent Training package and the current training portal will be closing on 30th October. Please download all resources if you currently use this as they will no longer be available after this date.

However, they are updating their current Prevent duty training products and are keen to hear from as many Frontline Staff as possible, to help them to identify where they need to make improvements. They have designed a very short SURVEY (approx. 5 minutes), which will run until the 5th November, so your feedback can shape the new provision.
