In March 2026, we announced the £1.6bn Inclusive Mainstream Fund (IMF) to support the development of a more inclusive mainstream system. The first instalment of the IMF was paid towards the end of the last academic year.
To meet the conditions of grant for the IMF, schools are required to publish an inclusion strategy statement for the academic year 2026 to 2027 on their websites by 31 December 2026. Your inclusion strategy should set out how you intend to use your additional funding provided through the IMF, alongside your core budget allocation (including your notional SEN budget), to start building a more inclusive core offer for all children and young people, including those with SEND.
