The Climate Ambassadors programme is working with Berkshire local authorities and the South East teams from the Department for Education Sustainability Support Programme to run the Berkshire Schools Sustainability Series in the 2026/27 academic year. We are encouraging staff from Berkshire schools to sign up to relevant sessions to help with the continued development and delivery of your school’s climate action plan. As a reminder, the Department for Education expect all education settings in England to have a nominated sustainability lead and impactful climate action plan.

The Berkshire Schools Sustainability Series will include four online webinars and one in person event spread throughout the 2026/27 academic year. Each event will focus on a different climate action pillar, with webinars running from 3:30pm – 5pm. All events are fully funded and open to staff from Berkshire education settings (e.g. sustainability leads, headteachers, deputy heads, school business managers, finance managers, estates teams, subject leads, governors/trustees, class teachers). Attendees do not have to attend every webinar and can instead select the sessions most relevant to their roles and responsibilities.

Our first webinar is on Wednesday 7^th October from 3:30pm – 5pm. This will be a recap on climate action planning. We will highlight some of the key programmes of support available to you, discuss actions within each of the four pillars of a climate action plan, showcase some helpful templates and tools, share some best practice examples from Berkshire schools, and find out the support on offer from your local authority. • 4:45pm – Local authority breakout sessions
• 4:55pm – Summary and details of next webinar
• 5:00pm – Close
