Wraparound Access Grant

As part of the Wraparound Childcare Programme, Achieving for Children is piloting a £50 000 grant to enable parents of children with high and complex needs to access childcare in mainstream. This targeted grant provides financial support for specific, high-cost interventions—such as continuous monitoring and care from staff, specialist medical training, or high-cost equipment—that go "above and beyond" a provider's statutory duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.

To be eligible, the provider must be within the Local Authority, the child must be a local resident whose needs currently prevent safe access to the setting, and the parent must require the care to enter or remain in work or training. The remit of the pilot are the same as the wider Wraparound Childcare programme: childcare places are term time, 8 am to 6pm, for primary school aged children.

Providers interested in applying must first complete a pre-application phase to verify gateway criteria before submitting a formal funding request for review by a professional panel.

If you would like to know more, please read the Wraparound Access Grant provider guidance here.

If parents/carers of a child with high and complex needs require childcare to enable them to start, remain, or train to work and your provision need support to be able to give safe access to your wraparound premises, please contact the rbwm.earlyyears-childcare@achievingforchildren.org.uk to apply.
