SEND and Inclusion Training
Achieving for Children SEND and Inclusion Training
In collaboration with Manor Green School, Forest Bridge School, Haybrook College and Beech Lodge School
Our vision
We aspire to ensure that every child and young person aged 0 to 25 with a special educational need and disability (SEND) in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) will be happy, healthy and achieve their fullest potential.
All children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that:
• they achieve their best and become confident individuals living fulfilling lives
• their emotional wellbeing is equally important
• they make a successful transition into adulthood is a priority
Through the RBWM five year SEND strategy priority 3, it is the aim that all RBWM mainstream provision will be welcoming, accessible and inclusive, adhering to the SEND Code of Practice, so that they can meet the needs of the vast majority of children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities. This means we can expect our mainstream school or setting to make every reasonable adjustment to meet the needs of children or young people with SEND led by strong SEND leadership within schools.
One way for us to achieve this is through training offered to all mainstream schools and colleges. We have collected feedback from these schools through annual surveys and borough wide audit tools including the Delivering Better Values work. This feedback has enabled us to inform our decision making around training that will support mainstream school staff when meeting the needs of the vast majority of children and young people.
Training offer
Our SEND and inclusion training brochure details FREE training available across RBWM for our mainstream and special schools, alternative provision and college settings. This training is being delivered by staff from special schools and alternative provision within RBWM. This forms part of our current universal offer to settings. The courses will be advertised termly and will be held face to face or virtually. Details of course times, dates, location and how to book a place, can be found under each of the course descriptions.
