March 2024: the Department for Education guidance on statutory policies for maintained schools and academy trusts has been withdrawn.   The two newly-published governance guides (one for maintained schools and one for academy trusts) which replace the 2019 governance handbook both contain DfE guidance on statutory policies for schools:
