Professional training opportunity- Family Action Young Carers

Last Thursday, the Department for Education published the attendance/absence data for 2022/23. This was the first data release to include this data for young carers (based on the 38,983 identified in the January 2023 school census).

The data showed that young carers had lower attendance than their peers (5 percentage points - 87.7% compared to 92.7%). In addition, 39% of young carers were persistently absent (missed 10% or more of school) compared with 21.1% of other pupils - nearly twice as high.

Family Action Young Carers are delivering a series of information and training sessions throughout the spring/summer term. Came and join us in either of these training opportunities to assist with identifying Young Carers within the school setting and explore how Young Carers can be best supported. Gain a better understanding of a young carer role and how best to establish specialist young carer support within your workplace.

These sessions are open to all professionals – teaching and non-teaching staff - who work with children, young people or adults.

All training is free to attend. Please see full details below of the sessions on offer and links to register to attend. For further enquiries, please contact our team at rbwm.yc@family-action.org.uk
